About Me

My name is Royce Herbert and I am from Greenville, South Carolina. My unique home town was founded by Richard Paris way back in the 18th century. Recently, it was voted one of the ten best places to live in America. I have lived in South Carolina all of my life and now I attend the College of Charleston. I am an Elementary Education major and I enjoy spending my free time playing soccer for the club team. I have a unique opportunity where I am because I have been able to receive enough financial aid and scholarships to cover my cost for attending college. This is something no one in my family has been able to do. Speaking of family, I guess I should introduce who got me to where I am. My mother is a teacher in Greenville, and this is part of what inspired me to teach. My father is a small business owner also located in Greenville. Finally, the secret key to my success: my twin brother. He currently attends the University of South Carolina and is pursuing a public health degree. I call him my key to success because without the competition that is rooted in brotherhood, I would have never been able to pay my way this far through college. Now that I have explained a little bit about myself, I  guess I should go into why I included this picture. As inspiration for this assignment our professor started us off with a quote from Kanye West about beliefs. The one thing I have learned about beliefs is that they don’t do much without passion. A person can believe whatever they want to, but without the passion to go get it, that belief will never become reality. I am passionate about soccer and education…..and yes a little basketball too. Part of being passionate about something is doing everything in your power to make that thing better. I believe that children can make it out of any situation they want to through education, and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that they have that opportunity.
